Jim and I had a great ride down to Virginia and Washington DC last week to be part of Rolling Thunder. We travelled some great biking roads on the way down, and spent one day after we got to Virginia riding across Skyline Drive and visiting the Luray Caverns. Amazing!
On the Saturday we joined the 500,000 + bikers on the ride around Washington Square. The weather was hot and sunny until the day we left for home. It turned cold and windy, especially once we crossed the border back into Canada at Buffalo.
While going across Toronto on the express lanes of the 401, the windshield of the bike came loose! Jim had to hold onto it with his left hand and shift without a clutch, while I used hand signals to get us safely off the highway onto a city street parking lot. All of the bolts had been jarred loose and two had fled the scene! Fortunately Jim had tools enough to tighten it back into place so we could continue our journey to Peterborough.
