PRESS RELEASE January 7, 2010
Prostate Cancer Foundation BC programs receive boost
From Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live
Prostate Cancer Foundation BC and the Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live founding group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaboratively promote and fund Prostate Cancer research, education, awareness and support in British Columbia, primarily through the annual Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live.
The team behind the May 30th 2010 Ride to Live (“RTL”) will be organizing their 3rd annual motorcycle ride to raise funds for Prostate Cancer. Last year the Team raised over $200,000 in the 1 day ride event that kicked off at the Trev Deeley Motorcycles with a motorcycle parade that traveled through the City of Vancouver led by the Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team over the Lions Gate Bridge to Ambleside Park followed by a scenic tour through the Fraser Valley and wound up at the Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino, Cloverdale with 1,800 riders making the Ride. Primary supporters of the RTL include the 911 Community - Police, Fire, Ambulance, Sheriffs of B.C., the motorcycle and business community.
Other events may be planned by the group to help Prostate Cancer Foundation BC expand its support to prostate cancer survivors, their families and researchers in BC.
Prostate Cancer Foundation BC, a charitable organization founded in 1997, raises funds through a variety of events, including the annual Father’s Day Walk Run, The Hair Affair, Do It for Dad events and other projects. It provides support to some 25 Prostate Cancer support groups throughout BC awareness programs and research into improved treatment and in pursuit of a cure from the most serious side effects of prostate cancer.
